Washable rugs are designed to be flexible and easy to handle, whether you’re unboxing a new one or moving it from room to room. Their foldable construction makes storage, cleaning, and everyday use simple.
Because of this flexible design, we use compact folded packaging to reduce waste and make delivery more efficient. So if you notice a few lines or creases when you first unfold your rug, don’t worry! That’s completely normal. Your rug is designed to bounce back, and with a little help, those folds will smooth out in no time.
1. The Fastest Method: Steam Ironing
If you want the creases gone the same day, steam is the quickest and most effective option. Heat and moisture help reset the rug fibers, allowing deep creases to relax and flatten almost immediately.
How to do it
- Lay the rug flat.
- Place a towel over the crease. This protects the fibers from direct heat.
- Use a steam iron on top of the towel, moving it slowly back and forth.
Most folds soften within minutes!
2. Use Heavy Objects
If you don’t have a steamer, weight can do the job too.
How to do it
- Spread the rug out flat.
- Place heavy, flat items—like thick books—on the creased areas.
- Leave them for several hours or overnight.
This method works well for lighter folds and curled corners.
3. Reverse Roll the Rug
The reverse tension encourages the rug fibers to settle back into shape.
How to do it
- Roll the entire rug tightly in the direction opposite the fold.
- Leave it rolled for a day or two.
4. Let It Relax Naturally
If you’re not in a hurry, simply laying the rug flat will also work. As you walk on it and as the fibers relax, the creases will soften on their own. Most will disappear within a few days.
With just a little time and care, your rug will smooth out beautifully. If you ever need more tips or help along the way, we’re here for you. Enjoy your fresh, fold-free rug!
